A running count of how many near-identical apps launch, sorted into the categories they cluster into, plotted over time.
In August 2026 one pay-to-rank site did well, and within two weeks there were dozens of them. Same mechanic, same weekend, different domain. That pattern is not new and it is not confined to leaderboards, so this site keeps score: it catalogues the launches, groups them by what they actually are, and lets you watch each category grow.
The name is the joke. Confabulate (v): to fabricate experiences as compensation for loss of memory. It is also the clinical term for what a language model does when it answers confidently and wrongly, which felt about right for the era being catalogued.
It is not a pile-on aimed at individual builders. Entries earn their place by being part of a documented wave, every one links to its source, and the point of the record is the pattern rather than any single person in it. Plenty of the launches here were made in good faith by people learning in public, and some of them are genuinely inventive. The interesting question is what it means that so many arrived at once.
If an entry is wrong, miscategorised, or should not be here, say so and it gets fixed or removed. Corrections are applied to the record rather than argued about.
